Christine Cicha is a Kansas City native who has been transplanted to Central Illinois. She was the principal cellist in the Illinois State University Symphony Orchestra, currently plays with the Millikin-Decatur and Illinois Valley Symphonies, is a substitute musician for the Peoria Symphony Orchestra, and is the co-founder of the "... And Friends" chamber music ensemble in Normal, IL. Ms. Cicha has a large studio of private students and was a teacher with ISU's String Project while in school.
She received her Bachelor of Music degree in performance from the University of Minnesota in the Twin Cities where she studied with Tanya Remenikova. While in Minnesota, she was a member of the Mississippi Valley Orchestra for two seasons, played in ensembles on recitals, and played in the pit orchestras for Elmer Gantry, Parables, Die Fledermaus, and Cosi Fan Tutti for the University of Minnesota as well as Fiorello!, Sweet Charity, and Oklahoma! for the Bloomington Civic Theater.
After graduating from the University of Minnesota and moving back to Kansas City, Ms. Cicha became a member of the Kansas City Civic Orchestra, first as a section member and then as the principal cellist, and a substitute musician for the Kansas City Symphony. She taught private lessons through R.E.W. Music as well as running sectionals in the Shawnee Mission and Olathe School Districts.
She graduated with her Master of Music degree in cello performance from Illinois State University, studying with Dr. Adriana La Rosa Ransom. She has also studied with Kansas City Symphony member Lawrence Figg. In addition, Ms. Cicha has been a member of the Oskaloosa (Iowa) Chamber Music Festival and performed with The Theater in the Park and Musical Theater for Young People in Kansas City, as well as at the Kansas City Fringe Festival.
Ms. Cicha plays a cello made by Franz Willer of Klagenfurt, Austria dated 1776.
